Matthew Fleming, AMFT
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, #134609
Matthew is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who earned his master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling from Saint Mary’s College of California.
He works with clients navigating life’s challenges, offering a supportive space to grow, heal, and better understand themselves. Matthew has a particular interest in helping individuals experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, addiction, burnout, and self-esteem concerns. He also supports clients coping with academic pressure, family conflict, grief and loss, and major life transitions.
Matthew is especially passionate about working with young adults, college students, and athletes navigating unique pressures, as well as adults who grew up in stressful or abusive environments and are looking to process past experiences, break unhelpful patterns, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others.
His approach to therapy is warm, accepting, and validating. Early in the process, he focuses on building rapport, gathering information, and providing psychoeducation to help clients understand what they are experiencing and why. At the same time, he encourages clients to self-author their sessions, bringing whatever feels most important to them that day.
Matthew draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based practices, and solution-focused therapy to help clients build skills, regulate emotions, and develop new ways of responding to life’s challenges. His style is strengths-based, collaborative, and engaging, incorporating humor and creativity when appropriate. He believes therapy can be deep and meaningful while also approachable, empowering, and even enjoyable.
His goal is to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered as they work toward meaningful change and greater well-being.
