Satwinder Mahabir, LMFT

Clinical Supervisor

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #49976

Satwinder is a seasoned Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Clinical Supervisor who brings presence, curiosity, and thoughtful care to her work with clients and clinicians alike. She believes healing happens in relationship—with oneself, with others, and within the broader systems that shape our lives—and she is deeply committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel genuinely seen, respected, and supported in their full humanity. Her approach is collaborative and grounded, offering clients a steady, compassionate presence as they navigate growth, change, and healing.

With over 20 years of clinical experience, Satwinder has worked with individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of settings and life stages. In addition to her clinical work, she has spent more than a decade mentoring and supervising emerging clinicians, supporting their professional development with the same care, integrity, and relational attunement she brings to client work. Her practice is rooted in trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and gender-affirming practices, and she approaches each client with warmth and deep respect for the ways identity, culture, family systems, and lived experience shape emotional well-being.

Satwinder draws from an integrative range of therapeutic modalities, including trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), narrative therapy, and systems-oriented approaches. She thoughtfully tailors treatment to each client’s needs, strengths, and goals, helping individuals and families better understand relational patterns, build emotional resilience, and develop more secure and meaningful connections.

She has extensive experience supporting clients through mood and anxiety disorders, relationship and communication challenges, life transitions, parenting concerns, and parent–child struggles. Satwinder brings a steady, affirming presence to complex emotional work and partners with clients to foster insight, growth, and lasting change.

Satwinder earned her master’s degree in Counseling with a Marriage and Family Therapy emphasis from San Francisco State University, where she further deepened her commitment to relationally focused and culturally responsive clinical work.
